This role is intended for first year students of the University of South Carolina's Masters of Human Resources program. Only applicants in the first year of this program will be considered for the role.

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Human Resources Intern will be provided with a rich, realistic HR experience through a series of work assignments across our various HR teams. These assignments are focused on building an intentional growth and learning experience for the intern. This is an internship, different from a shadowing opportunity, and is designed to complement student required studies. This experiential role will give the HR intern an opportunity to dive into our current work deliverables and contribute toward meaningful outputs as we deliver towards our five key pillars. 

 

Job Highlights

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Rotate between functions within a defined USAP practice and/or HR business unit.
Learn and apply crucial skills in Human Resources through exposure and completion of objective project deliverables designed to help both you and USAP achieve desired outcomes.
Serve in a broad HR role as a functional expert, business partner, and enabler for the organization by leveraging your academic knowledge and personal capabilities.
Maintain professional relationships with staff, clinicians, and external customers.
Utilize a courteous, enthusiastic, open-minded, critical approach to policies and procedures.
Relate and apply knowledge acquired in the academic setting to the company setting.
Be consistent and punctual in the submission of all work assignments.
Meet regularly with HR Leadership to gain insight, gain mentorship, share observations, and collaborate on key initiatives.
·         Gain exposure to multiple HR functions through hands-on learning and job collaboration opportunities.

·         Seek and apply feedback to support professional and personal development throughout the internship.

·         Participate in team meetings, trainings, and special projects to broaden HR knowledge and experience.

·         Complete and present a final summation project highlighting key learnings, experiences, and recommendations from the internship.

·         Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

·         Build relationships across teams to expand knowledge of the organization and HR profession.

·         Potential travel to USAP offices to connect with team in person

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):

 

(Include minimum qualifications for the role to include education, experience, and skill set. Any preferred KSAs should be noted as such)

 

  • Current enrollment in Bachelor’s or Master’s-level Human Resources degree program, required.
  • Previous work experience in Human Resources, preferred.
  • The highest ethical and professional standards
  • Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality
  • Excellent attention to accuracy and detail yet possesses a "big picture" perspective
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
