The Senior IT Interface Analyst (Sr IT Business Analyst) serves as a vital bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, gathering, analyzing, and translating requirements into effective technical solutions. The analyst collaborates closely with stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners to ensure solutions align with business needs, enhance efficiency, and advance strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include supporting the testing, implementation, and ongoing management of USAP’s clinical, scheduling, and demographic systems, as well as troubleshooting interface issues, developing detailed documentation, and conducting comprehensive data gap analyses. Data Analysis
• Develops and maintains a strong understanding of USAP clinical, scheduling, and demographic data requirements.
• Provides thorough interface implementation specifications to the USAP development team.
• Maintains interface-related meta data.
• Analyzes incoming, stored, and exported data for data quality issues.
• Analyzes feed meta data for data incompleteness.
• Interacts with stakeholders to understand integration needs and provides required communication to implement interfaces between partners sites.
• Works and communicates independently with the partners technical team(s) and internal team on a regular basis.
• Analyzes and documents requirements and business dataflow for integrations.
• Performs quality control and data validation, and works with business users for verification and signoffs.
• Assists other teams in explaining USAP interface mechanisms and details to the clients on pre-implementation conference calls.
• Maintains and supports existing interfaces.
• Follows project management mechanisms to track progress on a regular basis throughout the implementation.
• Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation, or education.
• Interfaces with vendors in relation to "bug" reporting through resolution.
• Creates and maintains production and non-production environments.
• Performs other related project duties as needed.
• Expresses complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Works well with people from many different disciplines with carrying degrees of technical experience.
Interface Tier 2 Support: When issues identified by Tier 1 support are escalated.
• Conducts thorough gap analyses of data files based on specifications and provides solutions for resolving issues.
• Acts as the owner of the issue and coordinates resolution/escalation with facility contacts as necessary.
• Communicates and collaborates with Business Analysts/Product Owner regarding issue status and resolution.
Continuous Improvement
• Works with leadership to improve the quality of data received from facilities as USAP business requirements and challenges change.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management Information Systems, IT, computer science or related filed. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education.
• 7+ years of experience in healthcare as a data analyst or technical liaison, preferably at a hospital system or ambulatory surgery center
• Experience working with interface engines in addition to clinical or healthcare dataflows.
• High degree of analytical skills and attention to detail, able to analyze large volumes of data.
• Strong troubleshooting ability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Self-motivating, team oriented, and result oriented.
• Knowledge of various healthcare fields (e.g. EMR, Lab, Billing, Scheduling, etc.), required.
• Experience working with interface engines and clinical workflows or healthcare workflows, required.
• Proficiency with working with HL7, FHIR, XML, and CSV, required.
• Knowledge of the common industry practices when transmitting healthcare data.
• Proven IT skills (including data evaluation/analysis using relevant computer applications).
• Proficient in SQL.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C#, VB, etc. is a plus.
• Proven experience with healthcare-related data and HIPAA requirements.
