As a key business partner and executive for the company, the Regional VP Revenue Cycle Management, located in Dallas, Texas, will report to the SVP of Revenue Cycle Management, and drive impact and business outcomes for this growing and dynamic organization. Partnering with the executive leadership, the Regional VP of Revenue Cycle Management (“VP RCM”) is responsible for the overall operations of the Revenue Cycle Management team and will lead a group of highly engaged processionals to focus on process deliverables, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and making an impact in this mission-critical function for the company.  This role includes direct supervision of the Revenue Cycle Department staff, ensuring that proper submission of claims, collections of receivables, and account postings are completed in a timely manner. This position is responsible for supporting key growth objectives and positioning the company as the industry leader in its field.

Job Highlights

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):

 

  • Direct and support training of the management team (and ultimately all employees) of all the billing related operations including insurance verification, claims submission, transaction processing, revenue recovery, denial management, self-pay collections, and other accounts receivable management functions to generate optimal cash flow to support operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Supervise director level staff within Charge Entry and Accounts Receivable as well as indirectly manage the 180-plus FTE’s in the Texas RCM Operations.
  • While serving as a partner, collaborate and coordinate with Finance, Human Resources, clinical operations and other functional areas to ensure alignment of process and desired business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain reporting of key performance indicators, such as DSO and on-hold A/R, and maintain DSO at an appropriate level for the organization.
  • Continually analyze and manage the net receivables balances and processes to detect changes in payor behavior.
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise and general knowledge of coding (CPT and ICD-9/CD-10), healthcare billing laws, rules, regulations, and developments necessary for the company to make informed business decisions.
  • Maintain compliance in all aspects of the billing and collection practices.
  • Develop and maintain exceptional working relationships with physician leadership. This includes regular communication of revenue cycle management trending and workflow opportunities that will assist with more efficient processing, billing and coding compliance as well as revenue maximization.
  • Utilize resources optimally to improve and sustain efficiency and the effectiveness of the organization including:
  • Developing and managing the relationship between the direct reports, audit team and their operational counterparts.
  • Identify and work with the IT function for any athenaIDX billing system updates or changes as well as to support daily operational needs (computers, phone systems, scanning, and document retention systems);
  • Managing human process flows throughout the billing and collection process (including training); and
  • Maintaining compliance with all applicable healthcare, and regulatory laws.
  • Appropriately and proactively engage the company’s Operations teams, including both site-level clinicians and support personnel who have an ability to positively or negatively impact the ability to efficiently, effectively, accurately, and compliantly bill and collect for an anesthesia encounter.
  • An undergraduate degree, preferably in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Accounting is required. A master’s degree is desirable.
  • At least 10 years of progressive management experience in a $300 million-plus healthcare revenue cycle services entity, with significant knowledge, exposure and responsibility in physician healthcare reimbursement.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ healthcare management experience in multi-unit integrated anesthesia care system, integrated hospital delivery system or multi-state medical group including extensive experience in contract negotiations within a complex organization.
  • At least three (3) years’ anesthesia practice management experience with a large anesthesia group preferably multi-unit and $100+ million revenue preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing a 100+ employee team of healthcare billers and collectors, or a similar processing organization, preferably in multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in healthcare billing and collection, including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and self-pay.
  • Intimate familiarity with healthcare billing system software is required, athenaIDX preferred.
  • Significant transformation and information technology experience in a high-volume processing environment; Lean Six Sigma knowledge and experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in integration of other platforms into a common platform whether from acquisitions or new business.
