    The Team Lead will provide support to a team of 3-7 collectors.  This person will act as the “go to” person for questions and issues.  This includes but is not limited to; training and mentoring of team, reviewing adjustments and account write-offs for individual team members, delegating work assignments and resolving personnel issues and disciplinary actions in conjunction with the Accts Receivable Manager and Human Resources.  All new hires must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.


    • Provides assistance in monitoring & analyzing AR; identifies negative trends 
    • Research and answer questions and concerns of team members
    • Communicate management goals and objectives to team
    • Enforces rules and guidelines of AR Department to staff. Enforces USAP policies & procedures.
    • Resolve personnel issues and disciplinary actions in conjunction with the Accts Receivable Manager and Human Resources.  Assist with staff evaluations.
    • Facilitates effective training of new employees
    • Identify training needs of staff and coordinate learning sessions on these matters
    • Review both quality & productivity of assigned collection staff, take corrective action as appropriate
    • Participate and/or provide direction for in-service education meetings for collection staff
    • Review & perform adjustments per departmental policy
    • Assist in interviews of prospective collection employees for team
    • Interface with provider relation representatives from insurance companies, attend meetings
    • Sort and distribute correspondence to collection team; ensures correspondence is kept current
    • Compiles and types reports; creates & works spreadsheets
    • Ensures that the assigned AR & Centricity Business queues are worked efficiently & effectively by all team members 
    • Act as an effective liaison with other depts. within the CBO as well as administration
    • Maintains professionalism & strictest confidentiality at all times
    • Assist with special projects and performs other duties as assigned


     REPORTING TO THIS POSITION:  No direct reports


     JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Must display a positive “teamwork” attitude and strong interpersonal skills
    • Must be proficient at running Centricity Business reports as directed
    • Must be proficient in using the Centricity Business practice management system
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Skill in calculation of charges, payments and adjustments
    • Knowledge of managed care contracts
    • Skill in gathering and reporting information from multiple sources, (Centricity Business, internet, payer contacts) 
    • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation rules and guidelines
    • At least an intermediate level in MS Word and MS Excel
    • Excellent verbal and written communication 
    • Ability to work effectively and independently with staff, physicians and external customers with limited supervision
    • Must have a pleasant disposition and high tolerance level
    • Willingness and ability to follow direction and/or company policy as directed by management
    • Must have multi-tasking capabilities
    • Must be able to a work flexible work schedule including some weekends
    • Communicate well with the public
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality


    • High School graduate or equivalent. Associate degree in business administration or related area preferred.
    • Must have 3-5 years of medical collections experience with at least 1 year of anesthesia collections experience.
