    US Anesthesia Partners (USAP) – Central Texas is seeking a full-time Anesthesia Technician to work primarily at Northwest Hills Surgical Hospital (NWHSH) in Austin, Texas.  This is primarily a daytime position Monday-Friday, but will also include occasional weekend call responsibilities at other hospitals.

    Responsibilities

    1. Exhibit flexibility and provide anesthesia support to other USAP anesthesia sites as needed
    2. When working at a facility, report directly to the Chief of Anesthesia or Chief CRNA at that facility
    3. Arrive promptly at the start of the workday; exact time to be set by your supervisor (usually 05:30-06:00)
    4. Adhere to all USAP time and attendance policies
    5. Complete all time and attendance documentation required for USAP anesthesia technician employees
    6. Follow all institution specific policies and procedures
    7. Maintain all anesthesia related infection control policies and related documentation
    8. Maintain professional conduct and behavior at all times
    9. Assist MD Anesthesiologists and CRNAs with anesthesia patient care including:
    • Ensure that every OR and procedure room is appropriately stocked with supplies prior to the first case of the day
    • Turn on anesthesia machines and perform self-tests. Troubleshoot any self-test “failures” and notify CRNA or Anesthesiologist as soon as possible for any non-correctable “failures”
    • Perform all appropriate anesthesia machine calibrations before the first case of the day
    • Gather all required supplies and assist with the placement of nerve blocks, including operation of the ultrasound machine
    • Manage paperwork associated with performing nerve blocks to assure proper follow-up
    • Pro-actively anticipate anesthesia patient care needs of Anesthesiologists and CRNAs
    • Turnover anesthesia equipment between cases
    • Respond to calls for equipment, etc from Anesthesiologists and CRNAs during the day
    • Maintain daily inventory of supplies necessary for anesthesia patient care and coordinate with person responsible for ordering of supplies
    • Organize anesthesia supplies in both the anesthesia carts and workroom
    • Prepare IV equipment for pediatric IV starts in the OR
    • Be prepared, from an equipment standpoint, for uncommon events such as need for arterial lines, central lines, blood transfusion, difficult airway
    • Have equipment for uncommon events ready, labeled, and easy to find after hours
    • Assist in troubleshooting all technical aspects of the anesthesia machines, technical equipment, and anesthesia gases
    • Appropriately evaluate and obtain new anesthesia equipment and be able to in-service other anesthesia techs, MDs and CRNAs as needed
    • Maintain all anesthesia department documentation standards required for JACHO certification
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the USAP site Chief MD and/or Chief CRNA

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    Maintain an active BCLS Heartsaver certification

     

    Adhere to all JACHO required credentialing needs for the institution where working
