Job Purpose

The charge entry specialist is responsible for entering demographic and insurance information.  Charge entry specialists work in an office setting, and they mainly spend time at a desk entering data into a computer.  All new hires must successfully pass a drug screen and background check before hired. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate input of demographic charges and time of service payment information.
  • Manages TES Edits.
  • Processes paper charges into BOSS.
  • Provides support to multiple practices (i.e. Surgery Centers and Pain Clinics).
  • Manually uploads and enters visits.
  • Manages Eligibility/EDI rejections.
  • Manages Quality Control of data uploads into BOSS and CB.
  • Other duties assigned by management.



  • Qualifications include:

    • High School Diploma or GED, required.
    • 0-2 years of experience in same/related field, preferred.
    • Basic understanding of insurance and billing, preferred.
    • Skill in keyboarding/data entry (60 wpm), required.
    • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Skill in computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel.
    • Skill in verbal and written communication.
    • Skill in gathering and reporting information.
    • Ability to learn quickly and apply training quickly and effectively.
    • Ability to work in multiple systems at once.
    • Must have a pleasant disposition and be a team player.
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
    • Communicate well with the public.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
