This position will pre-certify procedures with commercial and workers compensation insurance. Acts as back up for verification of insurance benefit information, entering all required patient demographic data and scheduling patients for office visits and procedures.




  • Pre-cert procedures with commercial insurance providers.
  • Workers Compensation authorizations.
  • Acts as back up for placing calls to insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance information and verifies information online, if applicable.
  • Makes the corresponding corrections to incorrect data, as needed.
  • Schedule patients for office visits and procedures, as needed.
  • Enter demographics into the patient accounting system.
  • Handles Insurance Referrals.
  • Construct new patient charts.
  • Print, fax and file dictation off Internet to appropriate referring physicians.
  • Notifying referring physicians when their patients do not show for appointments or decided not to have procedures performed.
  • Delivering charts to other office locations.
  • Review all documents upon receipt to ensure that all required information is attached.
  • Request face sheets or other information, as required.
  • Select and enter the proper Insurance Payer by product and zip code.
  • Maintain daily logs.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  •  Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with physicians, all staff members and external customers.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Self motivated; ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Must have a pleasant disposition and high tolerance level for diverse personalities.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette
  • Knowledge of insurance and benefits structure
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Skill in computer applications including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Must be able to type by touch at a rate of 35-50 wpm.

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
