Collaborate with the operating room staff, surgeons and Anesthesiologist to exceed patient expectations and quality of care standards. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with surgeons and the surgical support team, as well as with patients and their families.

Some duties and responsibilities may include:

• A thorough and complete preanesthetic assessment shall be performed.
• Informed consent for the planned anesthetic intervention shall be obtained from the patient or legal guardian.
• A patient-specific plan for anesthesia care shall be formulated.
• The anesthesia care plan shall be skillfully implemented, and the plan of care adjusted as needed to adapt to the patient’s response to the anesthetic. Vigilance will be maintained for untoward identifiable reactions and corrective actions initiated as required.
• Transport of patient to the Post-Anesthesia Care Area. The safe transport of the patient to the post-anesthesia care area is the responsibility of the provider of that patient’s anesthesia care.
• There shall be prompt, complete and accurate documentation of pertinent information on the patient’s record.
• The patient’s physiologic condition shall be monitored consistent with both the type of anesthesia care and specific patient needs.

1. Holds current state licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning advanced practice registered nursing.
2. Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor. (Students are welcome to apply-acceptable to be in certification process)
3. Complies with one of the following requirements regarding certification eligibility, initial certification, or recertification: a.  Meets criteria 1 and 2 above, and is awaiting initial certification (some states limit this period); or b.  Is currently certified by the Council on Certification of Nurses Anesthetists or its predecessor; or  c.  Is currently recertified by the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
4. Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.
5. Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities for which the candidate is applying
