Verify insurance information and pursue collection of all claims until payment is made by payor. Answer phones to respond to payor inquiries. Project a professional company image through phone interactions.


  • Work all payor balances in Task Manager
  • Verify insurance information using the Groupcast system, multiple websites, and phone contacts
  • Appeal unpaid/denied claims
  • Follow-up with payors on unpaid claims until claims are paid or only self-pay balance remains
  • Work rejected claims by either making the account a self-pay and generating a letter of rejection to the patient, or correct any billing error and resubmit claims to insurance carriers
  • Monitor claims for missing information
  • Identify, research, and resolve claim issues using the computer system
  • Perform clerical duties; write letters to encourage insurance payment
  • Research all payor credit balances
  • Work closely with Financial Counselors on patient issues/inquiries
  • Follow-up with Financial Counselor on inquiries not immediately resolved
  • Work payor correspondence
  • Enter updated information and error correct charges when needed
  • Recognize, document and alert the supervisor of trends in claim processing and/or denials
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Complete work within authorized time to assure compliance with department standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Job requirements

  • Basic reading, writing and math skills required
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as accept direction on given assignments
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills required
