POSITION SUMMARY:  The demographics representative receives charge documents by division and enters all required data into the patient accounting system daily. 



  • Review all documents upon receipt to ensure that all required information is attached.
  • Request face sheets or other information as required.
  • Enter demographics into the patient accounting system.
  • Select and enter the proper Insurance Payer by product and zip code.
  • Maintain daily logs.
  • Assist verification as needed.
  • File charge tickets in file cabinet(s).
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone’s responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered.  Report information systems security problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • General knowledge of Government Payers, Commercial, and Workers Compensation.
  • Skill in keyboard/data entry.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel. 
  • Must possess the ability to remain focused in a busy environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a plus. 
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, physicians, and external customers.
  • Must have a pleasant disposition and be a team player.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to type 50-60 wpm
  • Communicate well with the public
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English




  • A high school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of similar experience is preferred. (Registration Clerk, Admissions etc)




  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching
  • Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination/manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment
  • Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations. 
  • Requires lifting papers and boxes weighing up to 35 pounds occasionally
  • Requires dexterity to type at least 50 wpm.
