The AR Specialist performs functions related to anesthesia billing, associated with the patient and insurance billing process, and performs collection activities associated with assigned insurance groups. The AR Specialist will ensure timely processing of appropriate insurance journals, filing of claims and follow-up on denials to create a positive revenue flow for the company.



  • Responsible for working assigned work queues by insurance and/or patient
  • Follow-up with the insurance companies for status on claims
  • Contact patients for payments or other billing information
  • Coordinate, if necessary, conference calls with provider representatives to correct unresolved issues
  • Work with other departments as necessary to resolve issues on accounts
  • Correct and/or appeal denied or rejected claims
  • Resolve incorrectly paid claims
  • Work other shared duties as required
  • Other duties as assigned by management


JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Experience with computerized billing systems and office equipment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Basic knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and ASA coding
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
