The payment posting representative performs duties to assist the payments and refunds department in posting payments and adjustments on pain patient accounts and record keeping of those payments, adjustments, and co-pays. This position reports to the manager of payment posting. This position also has a dotted line reporting relationship to the director of pain operations. Ability to handle dual reporting relationships is essential.


  • Works directly with pain clinic staff and consolidated business office staff
  • Independently evaluate explanation of payments for patient accounts and understand correspondence based on knowledge of policy and personal discretion.
  • Ability to identify obstacles, trends, and training needs, escalating to management as appropriate
  • Accurately post or record information regarding collection receipts.
  • Processes and files information regarding collection receipts.
  • Quick evaluation and detail oriented.
  • Research oriented and capable.
  • Files correspondence, records, and reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform in a production environment—minimum daily expectation of posting all payments within 24 hours of receipt


JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Experience working with office-based (front desk) pain clinic staff
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of organization policies and procedures
  • Experience handling, processing, and reconciling over-the-counter payments (checks, credit cards, and cash)
  • Knowledge of Centricity Business, IDX, and CPS12 practice management system
  • Knowledge of contractual management practices
  • Good mathematical skills a must.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in gathering and reporting information.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, physicians and external customers.       Must display teamwork attitude and good inter-personal skills.
  • Must have a pleasant disposition and high tolerance level.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.


  • Communicate well with the public
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English 


  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience with managed care contracts.
  • Payment posting experience is preferred.
